The HUB has been designed to help an individual connect with a group or individual within First Baptist Church Ministries.
 
Agape Connections (Homebound)
Visits homebound church members (and non-members on occasion) that are either in nursing homes or confined to their home.

Anchored by Christ (Youth Ministry)
Bible Study and activities for youth in grades 6-12. This includes Sunday Mornings, Wednesday Night Worship, summer camp, mission projects, youth events, etc.

Anchored by Christ Kidz (Children’s Ministry)
Bible Study and activities for children Birth to 5th grade. This includes Sunday Mornings, Wednesday Night Worship, VBS, and other activities.

Baptism
Assists with baptism by filling and draining the baptistry, assisting the participants immediately before and after baptism, and ensuring names are documented. Requires climbing stairs.
 
Bereavement
Provides a meal following the funeral service for the family of church members who have gone to be with the Lord.
 
Biblical Counseling and Discipleship
Biblical Counseling is “in depth discipleship” that relies on the Word of God to help us deal with our grief, have victory in our challenges, or repent of our sin. The Bible contains answers for all moral, spiritual, and relational challenges of life. When we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, He calls us to grow continually to be more like Him. We are then to come alongside and guide our spiritual brothers and sisters, especially when they are facing unpleasant trials of life. Our counseling includes Individual & Family Counseling, Pre-marital & Marriage Counseling, Grief Counseling, Crisis Counseling, Reconciliation Counseling, and Addiction Counseling.
 
Building & Grounds
Provides maintenance and minor repairs to the church facility, installs flag display for special holidays, and participates in church workdays.
 
Children's Ministry
Bible study and activities for children birth through 5th grade. Includes Nursery, Children’s Church, and small group classes on Sunday morning, Wednesday Night Worship, VBS, and various other activities for children.
 
Citrus County Blessings
First Baptist Inverness collects  Jelly (in plastic containers) to go in backpacks for less fortunate students to have food for the weekend.

Compassion International
Plans a yearly event to encourage sponsorship of children in foreign countries. Compassion International provides an education, food, health support (such as immunizations and hygiene education), education for families, and more. The lessons are faith based and the children learn about Jesus. As a church, we have many areas of ministry, such as the deacon and youth ministry that sponsors a child through compassion as well as dozens of individual members who do as well. Also, throughout the year we have raised money for water filtration systems to go to villages and towns who desperately need clean water.
 
Decision Time Counseling
Counsels’ individuals about making a personal commitment to God and decisions about church membership, baptism, and spiritual growth.
 
Disaster Relief
Works in agreement with the Nature Coast Baptist Association and the Florida Baptist Convention Disaster Relief Ministries to provide support and disaster relief whenever necessary. Operates and manages a disaster relief unit specifically for Cleanup and Recovery. Also accommodates any need within the community that falls in the category of cleanup or outdoor assistance with approval of the coordinator and minister of outreach.

Drama Team
To present God-inspired skits and plays. Drama includes actors, prop people, costume, communications, as well as tech people.
 
Events
Seasonal opportunities to reach others. For example: Trunk or Treat, Florida Citrus County Crisis Pregnancy Center, Florida Baptist Children's Home, Dental Bus, Night to Shine, Teacher Appreciation Banquet.
 
First Impressions (Volunteer Receptionist)
Volunteer as a receptionist in the church office to greet people, answer phones, take messages, and answer questions about the church. May also be asked to help the secretary with folding monthly newsletters and putting inserts in the weekly bulletins.
 
Flowers & Decorating
Responsible for the floral arrangements and decorations in the church. Arrangements and decorations are interchanged several times during the year to coordinate with the seasons and holidays.
 
Food Service
Works in the church kitchen to prepare and serve dinners for special occasions and holidays. Volunteers also needed to help clean up after dinners.
 
Greeters
The smiling faces that welcome worshippers at the church doors. The greeters create one of the first impressions for our visitors and welcome our church family.
 
Parking Lot Greeters
These are the smiling faces that make a first impression in our parking lot. This is often the very first point of contact for our church visitors. They assist people who might have a special need with parking or exiting the vehicle.
 
Ushers
Another group of smiling faces who welcome worshippers, hand out bulletins, and assist with collecting the church offering. We are always looking for men to serve as ushers at least one Sunday a month.

Grief Share
Grief Share is for people grieving the death of a family member or friend. Thirteen-week classes are held several times throughout the year.
 
Holy Fire
Holy Fire is an “In the moment” prayer for the man of God, preaching the word of God to the people of God. Prayer is focused on the people in the pew who are not always open to the movement of the Holy Spirit, but when prayer is offered at the moment God’s Word is presented, a turn of hearts can be achieved. “Holy Fire” is designed and implemented with the heartfelt desire to prepare a people for the movement of God, not only at the service time but to continue into the future.

I-Serve
Inverness Serve, which is more well-known as I-Serve, is a service opportunity we have in the church. Usually organized twice a year in the Fall and Spring. During these service times we look in and out of the church for people who need help. Whether it be yard work, indoor cleanings, or even just going to visit someone who's been lonely or out of touch. We take this time to focus and help our Inverness community, showing Christ’s love through our actions.

Love Department (Special Needs Ministry)
Our Love Department is y focused on the special needs within our community. Our goal is to glorify God through equipping and supporting families, and volunteers of all ages, stages of life and all abilities through various church related activities from quarterly events to weekly worship services. The goal is for all to experience the love of God through corporate worship as well as small groups and walking side by side with our adults and Anchored in Christ ministries.
 
Mailbox Bible Club
This ministry originally provided Bible lessons to those who are incarcerated in jails and prisons around our nation. The ministry has expanded to include any child or adult who is interested in completing the lessons to learn more about our Lord. Lessons are available in Spanish upon request. Most of the new students to the Club are referrals from present or past students. Our Mailbox Bible Club meets weekly on Monday afternoons and Wednesday mornings.
 
Media Library
Provides books, audio and visual tapes, and other materials to be checked out on loan.
 
Men's Ministry
To encourage men to be better husbands, fathers, and leaders in the community. The Men’s Ministry sponsors Bible study, simulcasts of conferences, cookouts, fellowships, etc. Men are invited to a Weekly Men’s Prayer Breakfast at the Courhouse Café  on Tuesday at 9:00 am.

Music Ministry (Worship Ministry)
Provides the music for the weekly Worship Services, as well as other events including a yearly Christmas Musical and a special Easter presentation. The Worship Choir, Orchestra, Praise Team, and Sound Booth technicians are part of the Music Ministry.
 
Missions Team
Missions team is a team of church members who meet and go over different mission opportunities that the church has or that the church can do. These opportunities range from overseas mission trips to missions right here in Florida. Another responsibility the team does is set goals for the different offerings the church collects throughout the year.
 
Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes go where people may not know Christ and invite them to follow Him. They offer children physical gifts and the Greatest Gift, a Gospel story booklet Samaritan’s Purse developed for shoebox recipients. OCC Shoeboxes are resources for outreach in orphanages and other at-risk areas. FBI collects items for the shoeboxes throughout the year and holds a packing party to fill the shoeboxes. The Packing Party is in October and all filled shoe boxes are due the third week of November. There is an OCC Workday on Thursday at 12:30 pm.
OCC Drop Off
Every year, National Collection Week takes place the third week in November. First Baptist Church is an OCC Shoebox Drop-Off Location for our area. Volunteers are needed to help with receiving shoeboxes, packing them into cartons, and loading them onto the truck to be transported to Ocala for later shipment to Atlanta.
 
Ministry of Warmth
They meet every Thursday from 2:00 pm—4:00 pm to crochet and knit items for the Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes, to be sent to missionaries, and for local projects. They make hats, lap robes, blankets, etc.

Public Relations
Helps to develop the promotion of the church through printed advertising, social media, the church website, and other means of publicity.
 
Quilting Ministry
The mission of the Quilt Ministry of First Baptist Church of Inverness is to cover each person with the Warmth, Peace, and Love of Jesus Christ. They are a self-funded ministry that gives quilts to individuals who have had a life changing event, (major surgery, death of their spouse, marriage, or new baby). Each high school graduate gets a quilt with their life verse on their label, reminding them of the commitment they made to Christ. Every person who is baptized receives a quilt to commemorate their decision to serve Jesus. They have provided quilts to veterans in honor of their service. We have marble bags, dresses, and tote bags for OCC shoe boxes. They meet on the 3rd Tuesday each month in the choir rehearsal room, and we would love to have you join us.

Sanctuary Preparation
Volunteers meet on Monday morning at 9:00 am in the sanctuary to help pick up discarded bulletins and refill pews with visitor cards, tithing envelopes, etc.
 
Security
Patrols the church building and grounds during regular church services and special occasions to ensure the security of the church and worshippers.
 
Small Groups
Classes for all ages on Sunday Morning at 9:00 am. We have special classes, and small groups that meet on different days and at different times at the church and at church members' homes. The studies are centered in the Word and are all aimed at helping us understand how the Gospel of Jesus changes everything about our lives.
 
Stronger Together in Christ (STIC Moms)
Most people encounter some sort of obstacle at one time or another, but single moms often have additional challenges that are specific to their situation. S.T.I.C. MOMS is a program designed to help single moms in our community. During our small group weekly meetings, volunteer mentors come alongside brave moms to provide guidance and support, as well as spiritual guidance throughout the 9-week program. Building relationships and making connections help ensure our moms have continued support well after program graduation.

Women's Ministry
The desire of  Women’s Ministry is to engage every woman welcoming her with open arms by giving her opportunity to grow in her womanhood; to study God’s word, to learn how to care for her family, to experience mentorship, to fellowship, and to reach other women with the gospel outside our church. There are events for our teenage ladies as well.

How do I volunteer?

How do I volunteer with kids & Youth?

Volunteers that work with our children and youth are required to fill out an
volunteer application and have a background check. Please contact
the church office if you are interested in volunteering in
the Children's Department.

How do I volunteer with music?

The Worship Choir, Orchestra, Praise Team, and Sound Booth technicians are part of the Music Ministry. If you are interested in being a part of the Music Ministry,  please contact Pastor John Johnson at john@fbbcinverness.com .

must i be a church member to volunteer?

We have many volunteer opportunities with our ministries that do not require
church membership. Some of the opportunities and positions  of leadership do
require that you be a church member, but we have plenty of opportunities for
everyone to find a place to serve.
